Mid-Century Ranch

This modern kitchen renovation was designed in collaboration with designer and artist Mieke of Saanti Design, Los Angeles, to complement a beautifully updated mid-century Ranch home. The homeowner, herself an artist, sought a streamlined space that would function as a neutral backdrop for her vibrant paintings while providing excellent functionality for daily living.

The kitchen’s standout feature is a partially floating island that elegantly incorporates both the cooking area and oven, creating a sculptural focal point that appears to defy gravity. Dark gray LEICHT cabinetry provides sophisticated contrast against thin quartz countertops accented with a pop of orange—a deliberate nod to the homeowner’s artistic sensibilities. Mid-century walnut elements tie the kitchen to the home’s architectural heritage, creating perfect balance between contemporary functionality and period-appropriate warmth.
