This thoughtful renovation transformed a traditional Spanish-style home by strategically removing outdated elements while preserving its architectural character. The design centers around a striking large aquarium that serves as both an artistic focal point and a functional room divider between the kitchen and dining areas.
The aquarium’s placement addresses a key challenge in the original layout—limited natural light in the kitchen space. By creating visual and physical connection between the rooms, the design allows brightness from the dining area to flow into the kitchen, eliminating the need for structural modifications like skylights that would compromise the home’s roofline.
